Our nectar LMS – now accessible and certified according to public sector criteria
We are excited to announce that we have taken an important step toward the future with our nectar LMS: making access to learning content possible for all learners.
Accessibility means that no one is excluded – regardless of their circumstances. With our certified adjustments, we support you in making learning offers on your digital learning platform inclusively accessible, ensuring that all users have equal access to knowledge and further education.
The certification was carried out according to the strict requirements of the Barrier-Free Information Technology Ordinance (BITV 2.0) and the European standard EN 301 549 V3.2.1, which complement the international Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1). This means that our web application now meets all the requirements to ensure barrier-free access. The specially adapted page types of nectar LMS have been thoroughly tested for this purpose.
What does this mean in practice? What happens to the additional features?
With the certification, we ensure that the basic structure and technical framework of nectar LMS are accessible. To fully utilize the functionality of nectar LMS, it might make sense to create two versions of your platform:
- One version with your usual corporate design and standard features.
- An additional, accessible version that, for example, fully supports keyboard navigation or uses specific contrast levels and alternative text.
This way, you can ensure that the legal requirements of the Barrier-Free Strengthening Act starting in 2025, as well as other country-specific regulations, are met and that the platform is user-friendly for all target groups.
